Lieutenant Phillip Downey has worked at the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office since 2002. He is a graduate of Reinhardt University with a Bachelor’s Degree in business from the McCamish School of Business. He a certified law enforcement instructor has received three Sheriff’s Commendations, 2012 K9 Deputy of the year and 2014 Uniform Deputy of the year.
Lieutenant Downey served with the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit from 2005 to 2013. He served in the Detention Center, Uniform Patrol, and also as the agency recruiter in 2015.
Lieutenant Downey and his family live in Cherokee County and enjoy living on their small piece of property. He enjoys the outdoors and woodworking.
