Crimes Against Children Commander

This unit is supervised by Lieutenant who reports directly to the Division Commander. This unit is responsible for the investigation of the following incidents:

  • Investigation of child abuse, neglect, and death of persons under the age of 18
  • Sexual offenses where either the perpetrator or victim is a juvenile
  • Parental Kidnapping
  • Juvenile Missing Persons
  • All aggravated assaults and/or aggravated battery involving persons under 17
  • Robbery involving intimidation between juveniles
  • Runaway and Unruly Juveniles

More About Lt. G. Carter

Lieutenant Garrett Carter began his career in 2006.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management-Leadership from Reinhardt University, a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University, and is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee’s National Forensic Academy.

Lieutenant Carter is member of the Strike Team, as well as a senior Crime Scene Specialists on the Cherokee Sheriff’s Crime-Scene Response Unit (CRU).   He regularly assists with the completion of high school senior projects and Cub Scouts seeking their forensic badge.  He also provides forensic lectures and demonstrations at local high schools.
