The goal of the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is to provide the best service by knowledgeable officers for the citizens of Cherokee County.  In an effort to achieve this goal, each officer must secure 40 hours of P.O.S.T. approved training during the calendar year.  This exceeds the minimum established by P.O.S.T. to retain certification (arrest powers) by 20 hours.

The Training Office maintains all training records for personnel of the Sheriff’s Office in compliance with Georgia Law and Georgia P.O.S.T. Council rules.

The office coordinates scheduling of personnel attendance at state and local training facilities, provides in-service training and monitors number of hours personnel receive annually to assure minimum requirements of the P.O.S.T. Council and the Sheriff’s Office are met.
